Pre-Conventional Stage (प्राक रूढ़िगत नैतिकता) - This stage covers the age of 4 to 10 years. In this stage, children are not yet developed in terms of morality and they just behave according to the rules around them. There are two stages here (यह स्तर 4 से 10 वर्ष की आयु सम्मिलित करता है। इसमें बच्चे नैतिकता के मामले में अभी विकसित नहीं होते हैं और वे सिर्फ अपने आसपास के नियमों के अनुसार व्यवहार करते हैं। यहाँ दो चरण हैं)

• Punishment and Obedience Orientation : Children learn morality based on punishment and obedience (दंड एवं आज्ञा पालन उन्मुखता : बच्चे सजा और आज्ञा पालन पर आधारित नैतिकता को सीखते हैं)
• Sadhana Self Relativity (साधना आत्मक सापेक्षता) : In this, children base their behavior with others on their own behavior (इसमें बच्चे दूसरों के साथ व्यवहार को अपने व्यवहार पर आधारित करते हैं)

Conventional Stage (रूडी गढ़ नैतिकता) - This stage comes at the age of 10 to 13 years. At this stage children accept social rules and try to behave according to them. There are two stages here (यह स्तर 10 से 13 वर्ष की आयु में आता है। इस स्तर पर बच्चे समाजिक नियमों को स्वीकार करते हैं और उनके अनुसार व्यवहार करने का प्रयास करते हैं। यहाँ दो चरण होते हैं)

• The Orientation to be a Good Boy or Girl (अच्छा लड़का या लड़की बनने की उन्मुखता) : Children try to live up to their ideals (बच्चे अपने आदर्शों को पूरा करने की कोशिश करते हैं)
• Law and Order Orientation (कानून एवं व्यवस्था उन्मुखता) : Children develop a sense of maintaining law and social order (बच्चे कानून और सामाजिक व्यवस्था को बनाए रखने की भावना विकसित करते हैं)

Post - Conventional Stage (उत्तर रूडीगढ़ नैतिकता) - At this stage (after the age of 13 to 16 years), the individual tries to behave according to the general rules of society and his own moral principles. There are two stages here (इस स्तर पर (13 से 16 वर्ष की आयु के बाद), व्यक्ति समाज के सामान्य नियमों से अपने नैतिक सिद्धांतों के अनुसार व्यवहार करने का प्रयास करता है। यहाँ दो चरण हैं) 

• Social contract orientation (सामाजिक अनुबंध उन्मुखता) : The person believes that rules are important to social agreements (व्यक्ति मानता है कि नियम सामाजिक समझौतों के लिए महत्वपूर्ण हैं)
• Universal ethical principle orientation (सार्वभौमिक नैतिक सिद्धांत उन्मुखता) : In this, a person behaves based on his or her own standards, which are based on universal moral principles (इसमें व्यक्ति अपने खुद के मानकों के आधार पर व्यवहार करता है, जो कि सार्वभौमिक नैतिक सिद्धांतों पर निर्भर करता है)

  • Instrumental Objective Orientation (वाद्य उद्देश्य अभिविन्यास) : Children at this stage show individual perspectives and decide on actions based on their needs (इस चरण में बच्चे व्यक्तिगत दृष्टिकोणों को दिखाते हैं और अपनी आवश्यकताओं के आधार पर कार्यों का निर्णय लेते हैं)

Level (स्तर) - 2 : Traditional Morality (पारंपरिक नैतिकता)

• Phase (चरण) - 3 

  • Good Boy – Good Girl Orientation (अच्छा लड़का – अच्छी लड़की अभिविन्यास) : Children at this stage strive to be good according to social expectations and roles (इस चरण में बच्चे सामाजिक अपेक्षाओं और भूमिकाओं के अनुसार अच्छे होने के लिए प्रयास करते हैं)

• Phase (चरण) - 4 

  • Maintaining social order (सामाजिक व्यवस्था बनाए रखना) : In this stage, children follow the rules and regulations of society and perform their duties (इस चरण में बच्चे समाज के व्यवस्था और नियमों का पालन करते हुए अपने कर्तव्यों का पालन करते हैं)

Level (स्तर) - 3 : Post - Traditional Morality (उत्तर – परंपरागत नैतिकता)

Age Limit : 13 to 16 Years

• Phase (चरण) - 5 

  • Social contract and individual rights (सामाजिक अनुबंध और व्यक्तिगत अधिकार) : In this stage, individual rights as well as standards of social morality are understood (इस चरण में व्यक्तिगत अधिकारों के साथ-साथ सामाजिक नैतिकता के मानकों को भी समझा जाता है)

• Phase (चरण) - 6 

  • Universal Principles (सार्वभौमिक सिद्धांत) : In this stage, individual and social principles as well as universal moral principles are understood. (इस चरण में व्यक्तिगत और समाजिक सिद्धांतों के साथ-साथ सार्वभौमिक नैतिक सिद्धांतों को भी समझा जाता है)
