Nameri National Park

Nameri National Park is located in Sonitpur district of Assam. Nameri Sanctuary was recognized in 1985 and Nameri National Park in In 2000, the Nameri National Park was declared a tiger project. Nameri National Park is home to monkeys, foxes, wild boars, deer, tigers, wolves, elephants and many other animals. Nameri National Park covers an area of ​​200 sq km.

নামেৰি ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যান অসমৰ শোণিতপুৰ জিলাত অৱস্থিত। ১৯৮৫ চনত নামেৰি অভয়াৰণ্য হিচাপে স্বীকৃতি প্ৰদান কৰা হয় আৰু ১৯৯৮ চনত নামেৰি ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যান হিচাপে স্বীকৃতি প্ৰদান কৰা হয়। ২০০০ চনত নামেৰি ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যানক ব্যাঘ্র প্রকল্প হিচাপে ঘোষণা কৰে। নামেৰি ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যানত বান্দৰ, শিয়াল, বন ৰৌ, হৰিণা, বাঘ, পহু, হাতী আৰু বহুতো জীৱ-জন্তু আছে। নামেৰি ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যানৰ মাটিকালি হৈছে ২০০ বর্গ কিলোমিটাৰ।

 

Nameri National Park, located in the foothills of the eastern Himalayas in Assam, India, is about 35 km from Tezpur. It shares its northern border with Arunachal Pradesh's Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary, together forming a combined area exceeding 1,000 square kilometers. 

Key Features

  • Tiger Reserve Status : Declared a Tiger Reserve in 1999-2000.
  • Core Areas : Includes Nameri National Park and Sonai-Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary.
  • Vital Artery : The Jia-Bhoroli River runs through the park, serving as a crucial feature of the ecosystem.

Nameri National Park, covering 200 sq km, is renowned for its scenic beauty, with the Jia Bhoroli River running through it. Located on the eastern border of Assam, it lies in the valley between the mountainous Arunachal Pradesh. Established as a sanctuary in 1985 with an initial area of 137 sq km, it was officially designated a National Park in 1998.

Key Highlights:

  • Endangered Species : Home to the white-winged wood duck, sloth bear, tiger, leopard, clouded leopard, sambar, gaur, Indian wild dog, and four varieties of hornbill.
  • Elephant Population : The park is known for its high density of elephants. Due to the reduction in forest cover, elephants sometimes venture into human-inhabited villages, drawing global attention from wildlife conservationists.
