Kaziranga National Park

The Kaziranga National Park

      The Kaziranga National Park is located in the Nagaon and Golaghat districts of Assam. Kaziranga National Park was recognized as a national park in 1974 and in 2006 as a tiger sanctuary. In 1985, UNESCO declared the Kaziranga National Park a "World Heritage Site" The Kaziranga National Park is home to rhinos, tigers, monkeys, tigers, wild buffaloes, elephants, wild boars, wolves and wild chickens. The Kaziranga National Park covers an area of ​​858.98 sq km.

 

কাজিৰঙা ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যান

       কাজিৰঙা ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যান অসমৰ নগাঁও জিলা আৰু গোলাঘাট জিলাত অৱস্থিত। কাজিৰঙা ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যান ১৯৭৪ চনত ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যান হিচাপে স্বীকৃতি লাভ কৰিছিল আৰু ২০০৬ চনত কাজিৰঙা ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যান বাঘ সংৰক্ষণ ক্ষেত্ৰ হিচাপে স্বীকৃতি লাভ কৰে। ১৯৮৫ চনত ইউনেস্কয়ে (UNSCO) কাজিৰঙা ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যানক "বিশ্ব ঐতিহ্য অঞ্চল" হিচাপে ঘোষণা কৰে। কাজিৰঙা ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যানত এশিঙীয়া গঁড়, বাঘ, হলৌ বান্দৰ, শিহু, বনৰীয়া ম'হ, হাতী, বনৰীয়া গাহৰি, পহু, বন কুকুৰা আদি পোৱা যায়। কাজিৰঙা ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় উদ্যানৰ মাটিকালি হৈছে ৮৫৮.৯৮ বর্গ কিলোমিটাৰ।

Safari in Kaziranga National Park

      Kaziranga National Park offers Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari, providing wildlife enthusiasts with convenient ways to explore its natural beauty and diverse wildlife. Spanning around 430 sq km, the park is divided into four tourism circuits, each with unique wildlife and scenic landscapes. These circuits ensure efficient tourism management and enhance the safari experience for visitors.

 

Safari Zones Kaziranga 

Kaziranga National Park is divided into the four tourism zones

  • Central Zone,
  • Eastern Zone,
  • Western Zone
  • Burapahar Zone.

 

Jeep Safari in Kaziranga 

Jeep Safari is allowed in all the four zones in Kaziranga and operated in the two shifts

  • Morning shift 
  • Afternoon shift.

 

Elephant Safari Kaziranga
Elephant Safari is allowed only in the two zones of Kaziranga - Central zone and Western Zone in two shifts, both shifts in morning.

Animals

    The Park is a critical sanctuary for a diverse array of wildlife. It is home to over 70% of the world's One-Horned Rhinoceros population and boasts the highest density of tiger prey, including significant biomass for tigers. The park also harbors more than 60% of India’s wild buffalo population and is the sole habitat for the Eastern Swamp Deer. Additionally, it supports seven species of turtles and tortoises.

Other notable wildlife includes:

  • Mammals : Leopard, Fishing Cat, various Lesser Cats, Large Indian Civet, Small Indian Civet, Sambar, Barking Deer, Hog Deer, Gaur, Hog Badger, Hoolock Gibbon, Capped Langur, Assamese Macaque, Rhesus Macaque, Sloth Bear, Gangetic Dolphin, and Otter.

 

Birds

     The Park is a vital refuge for avian diversity, hosting :  

  • 25 Globally Threatened Bird Species
  • 21 Near Threatened Bird Species

A total of 480 bird species have been recorded in the Park. Notable endangered species include 

  • Baza
  • Bengal Florican
  • Hornbills
  • Osprey

Additionally, the Park supports a variety of Pelicans and both resident and migratory waterfowls, highlighting its significance as a critical habitat for numerous bird species.

    The Park features a wealth of aquatic flora and fauna, supported by over 150 perennial water bodies. These water bodies experience fluctuating water levels, fostering a rich diversity of aquatic plants. Key details include
