The Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE), Assam, has released two notifications for the recruitment of 8230 Graduate Teachers (Arts, Science, Hindi, and Sanskrit) for various Government and Provincialized Secondary Schools under the Secondary Education Department of Assam.

In continuation to this office earlier Advertisement No. E-392562/1 published in the local dailies vide No. Janasanyog/D/15293/23/27-Dec-23, dated-27.12.2023, this is for information to all concerned that the break-up of the post of Graduate Teacher for recruitment in the Government Secondary Schools under the Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam, are as follows

Educational and Professional Qualifications for Graduate Teacher (Mathematics)

• Educational Qualification : A candidate must have a Graduation Degree in Science with Honours or Major in Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry, or Biology as pass or minor subjects at the graduate level, OR a Post Graduate Degree in Mathematics with at least 50% marks in either Graduation or Post Graduation. Additionally, the candidate must possess a B.Ed. degree from an institution recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).  
• Recognition of Degrees : As per the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised Schools) (Amendment) Service Rules, 2021, degrees from institutions located outside Assam but with study centres in Assam will only be accepted if the centre is recognized by the DEC under UGC. However, degrees/diplomas from KKHSOU, IGNOU, IDOL (under Gauhati University), and Distance Education (under Dibrugarh University) will be valid.

Educational Qualifications of Assam TET Recruitment 2024

1. Graduate Teacher (Arts)

• Candidate must hold a Graduate/Post Graduate degree in Arts/Commerce with at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
• Must have a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from an NCTE-recognized institution.

2. Graduate Teacher (Science)

• Candidate must hold a Graduate/Post Graduate degree in Science with at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
• Must possess a B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution.

3. Graduate Teacher (Hindi)

• Must have Pravin/Ratna in Hindi with 50% marks and a degree or post-graduation in Arts with 50% marks,
  OR
• BA with 50% marks and Hindi as a subject with 50% marks.
• Must possess a B.T. or B.Ed. degree from a recognized university.

4. Graduate Teacher (Sanskrit)

• Must have Shastri with 50% marks and a degree or post-graduation in Arts with 50% marks,
  OR
• BA with 50% marks and Sanskrit as a subject with 50% marks.
• Must possess a B.T. or B.Ed. degree from a recognized university.

Note : Degrees from institutions with off-campus study centres outside Assam, unless recognized by the DEC under UGC, will not be considered valid except degrees/diplomas from KKHSOU, IGNOU, IDOL (Gauhati University), and Dibrugarh University.

Language and Medium of Instruction Requirements

• Assamese Medium Schools : Must have passed HSLC with Assamese as a subject or hold a diploma in Assamese from Axom Sahitya Sabha.
• Bengali Medium Schools : Must have passed HSLC with Bengali as a subject or equivalent diploma from Barak Upatyaka Bangya Sahitya Sanskriti Samiti.
• Hindi Medium Schools : Must have passed HSLC with Hindi or have studied in a Hindi Medium School up to HSLC.
• Bodo Medium Schools : Must have passed HSLC with Bodo as a subject or have studied up to HSLC in a Bodo Medium School.
• English Medium Schools : Must have passed HSLC with Alternative English or have studied in an English Medium School from Class XI onwards.

For teaching MIL subjects, candidates who passed HSLC with the respective MIL subject will be considered.

TET Cum Recruitment Test

• Total Marks : 140 marks
  • Pedagogy : 50 marks
  • Assam and its People : 50 marks
  • General English : 30 marks
  • General Studies and Current Affairs : 10 marks

Other Eligibility Criteria of Assam TET Recruitment 2024

• Nationality : Must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of Assam.
• Age Limit : 21 to 38 years as of 1st January 2023

Documents Required

• Passport-size photograph,
• Signature, 
• Age proof, 
• Education certificates, 
• TET certificate,
• B.Ed. certificate,
• Caste certificate (if applicable), 
• Disability certificate (if applicable), 
• NCC/Sports/Cultural certificates (if applicable),
• Teaching experience certificate (if applicable), 
• Ex-servicemen certificate.

Selection Criteria

• TET Cum Recruitment Test : 140 marks.  
• Additional Weightage
  • 5 marks for NCC "B" or "C" certificates or participation in national-level sports or fine arts/cultural events.
  • 5% weightage for candidates who passed the earlier High School TET but are not yet appointed.
• Merit List : A stream-wise merit list will be prepared based on the performance in the TET Cum Recruitment Test. Separate merit lists will be created for Arts, Science, Hindi, and Sanskrit.

How to Apply

• Eligible candidates can apply online through the official DSE, Assam portal starting 21st October 2024. Applications must be submitted in online mode only.
• Candidates must apply through the official website https://madhyamik.assam.gov.in. No other mode of application will be accepted. Applications can be submitted from 21st October 2024 (11:30 AM) to 15th November 2024 (midnight). Multiple applications are not allowed.

The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. Government employees must upload a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC) from the competent authority when applying.

Reservation for Persons with Disabilities (PwD)

• Candidates with OH (One Arm and One Leg), LV (Low Vision), or HI (Hearing Impaired) with a minimum 40% disability will be considered for reserved posts. PwD candidates must present their relevant certificates and, if applicable, a scribe certificate.

Examination Details

• The examination will be 2 hours and 30 minutes long and consist of 140 multiple-choice questions, each worth 1 mark. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.  
• The question paper will be available in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, and English. In case of discrepancies, the English version will be considered authoritative.  
• Examination Centres : Candidates can select their examination centre from the following districts:
  • Cachar
  • Dibrugarh
  • Jorhat
  • Kamrup
  • Kamrup Metro
  • Kokrajhar
  • Lakhimpur
  • Nalbari
  • Sonitpur.  
• Employment Exchange Registration Number : All applicants must have a valid Employment Exchange Registration Number. If not already obtained, it must be secured before appointment.  

Selection Process

• A common Recruitment Test will be conducted for all Graduate and Post Graduate Teachers.
• A merit list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained in the TET cum Recruitment Test.
• In case of a tie, the candidate with higher marks in the written exam, or the earlier date of birth, will be selected. If still unresolved, the selection will be decided by a draw of lots.
• Posts will be filled first for Government Schools, followed by Provincialised Schools as per merit.

The remaining terms and conditions of the earlier advertisement will remain unchanged.
