The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB)

   The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has released an employment notification (CEN No. 03/2024) for the recruitment of 7951 Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent, Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant, Chemical Supervisor (Research), and Metallurgical Supervisor (Research) posts across various RRBs. The online application process for RRB JE Vacancy 2024 has commenced from 30th July 2024 and will continue until 29th August 2024.

RRB JE Recruitment 2024 Details

1. Chemical Supervisor/Research and Metallurgical Supervisor/Research

  • No of posts: 17
  • Age Limit: 18 to 36 years as of 1st January 2025.
  • Pay: Pay Level-7 with an initial pay of Rs. 44,900/-, plus other applicable allowances.

2. Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent, and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant

  • No of posts: 7934
  • Age Limit: 18 to 36 years as of 1st January 2025.
  • Pay: Pay Level-6 with an initial pay of Rs. 35,400/-, plus other applicable allowances.

 

Nationality / Citizenship Criteria for RRB JE Recruitment 2024

Candidates applying for the RRB JE Recruitment 2024 must meet the following nationality or citizenship requirements:

Citizenship Requirements

  • Indian Citizen: The candidate must be a citizen of India, or
  • Citizen of Nepal: The candidate can be a citizen of Nepal, or
  • Citizen of Bhutan: The candidate can be a subject of Bhutan, or
  • Tibetan Refugee: A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01.01.1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • Person of Indian Origin: A person of Indian origin who has migrated from the following countries with the intention of permanently settling in India:
    • Pakistan
    • Burma
    • Sri Lanka
    • East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam.

Certificate of Eligibility:

  • Candidates belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv), and (v) as mentioned above must have a Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India.
  • Candidates requiring a Certificate of Eligibility may be admitted to the examination provisionally. However, they must submit the Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India during Document Verification. Failure to submit this certificate will result in the rejection of their candidature.

Minority Community Declaration:

  • Minority Communities: Minorities include Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Zoroastrians (Parsis). These categories are subject to revision, deletion, or inclusion based on notifications received until the last date of application submission (29.08.2024).
  • Affidavit Requirement: Minority candidates who are claiming a waiver of the examination fee must submit an affidavit (as per Annexure IV) on non-judicial stamp paper declaring their minority community. This affidavit must be presented during Document Verification (DV). Failure to provide this affidavit will result in the rejection of the candidate’s application.

Economically Backward Class (EBC) Candidates

Income Criteria: EBC candidates are defined as those whose annual family income is less than ₹50,000/-. These candidates are eligible for a concessional examination fee.

 

Required Documentation: To avail of the fee concession, candidates must have a valid income certificate issued on the date of application. This certificate should be in the prescribed format (Annexure III-A) and on the letterhead of the issuing authority. The following authorities are authorized to issue the income certificate:

  • District Magistrate or any other Revenue Officer up to the level of Tahsildar.
  • Sitting Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha for persons of their own Constituency.
  • Sitting Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha for persons of the district in which these MPs normally reside.
  • Union Minister for any person from anywhere in the country.

 

Alternative Documentation: Candidates may also submit:

  • A BPL (Below Poverty Line) card or another certificate issued by the Central Government under a recognized Poverty Alleviation Programme.
  • An Izzat MST (Monthly Season Ticket) issued by the Railways.

Application Requirements: EBC candidates seeking fee concession must provide details of a valid EBC certificate, BPL card, or Izzat MST in their online application. The original document must also be presented during DV. Failure to do so will result in the rejection of the candidate’s application.

 

Distinction Between EBC and EWS

  • EBC and EWS Categories: It is important to note that EBC (Economically Backward Class) and EWS (Economically Weaker Section) are distinct categories. EBC candidates are eligible only for fee concession and do not qualify for job reservation, unlike OBC (Other Backward Classes) or EWS candidates.

University Educational Qualification

  • Chemical Supervisor/Research: Degree or its equivalent in Chemical Technology from a recognized University/Institution in fields like Petroleum Products, Paints and Corrosion Prevention, or Polymers. Knowledge of any computer language is essential.

  • Metallurgical Supervisor/Research: Degree or its equivalent in Metallurgical Engineering from a recognized University/Institution. Knowledge of any computer language is essential.

  • Junior Engineer Electrical: Three years Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a combination of substreams of these disciplines from a recognized University/Institute.

  • Junior Engineer Civil: Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or a combination of substreams of Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.

  • Junior Engineer/Track Machine: Three years Diploma in Mechanical/Production/Automobile/Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation and Control Engineering or a combination of substreams from a recognized University/Institute.

  • Junior Engineer Mechanical: Three years Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Manufacturing/Mechatronics/Industrial/Machining/Instrumentation and Control/Tools and Machining/Tools and Die Making/Automobile/Production Engineering or a combination of substreams from a recognized University/Institute.

  • Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized University/Institute.

  • Junior Engineer/Diesel Electrical: Three years Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a combination of substreams from a recognized University/Institute.

  • Junior Engineer/S&T/Telecommunication: Three years Diploma in Electrical/Electronics/Information Technology/Communication Engineering/Computer Science and Engineering or a combination of substreams from a recognized University/Institute.

  • Depot Material Superintendent: Three Years Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognized University/Institution.
