Assam Pragyan Bharati Scooty Scheme

   The Government of Assam, under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme, has announced guidelines for the distribution of scooters to meritorious students as part of the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award. This initiative aims to motivate students to excel academically and pursue higher education. Here are the details of the scheme for the academic year 2024-25. Guideline for Distribution of Scooter to Girls securing 60% or more marks and Boys securing 75% or more Marks in the H.S.S.L.C. Examinadon 2024 as Dr.Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award under Pragyan Bharad Scheme. Hon'ble Finance Minister, in the budget speech 2023 - 24, annormced providing Scooters to girls securing 60% or more marks and boys securing 75% or more marks in Class 12th examinadon in Higher Secondary Examination 2023. The Govt. of Assam in Higher Education Departnent decided to continue the scheme for the year 2024 - 25.

Eligibility Criteria of Assam Pragyan Bharati Scooty Scheme

To benefit from the Assam Pragyan Bharati Scooty Scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria

  • Residency : The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Gender : The scheme is exclusively for female students.
  • Academic Performance : Applicants must have secured a first-class in the Class 12 examinations conducted by a government school in Assam.
  • School Type : The applicant must be enrolled in a government school in Assam.

 

To qualify for the scooter distribution under this scheme, students must meet the following requirements

  • Academic Performance
    • Girls : Must secure 60% or more marks in the Higher Secondary Final Examination 2024.
    • Boys : Must secure 75% or more marks in the same examination.
  • Examination Board : The examination must be conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
  • Non-eligibility
    • Students who have appeared for betterment or reappearance exams are not eligible. 
    • Dropout students are not eligible for this scheme.
  • Residency : Applicants must be residents of the state of Assam.
  • Continuing Education : Students must intend to continue their education beyond the 10+2 level.

Distribution Process

  • Beneficiary List Collection : The list of eligible students will be compiled from the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council records.
  • Uploading Beneficiary List : The list will be uploaded online for transparency and accessibility.
  • Notification of Consignee Principals : The Director of Higher Education will notify designated Consignee Principals who will oversee the distribution process at their respective institutions.
  • Certificate Collection : Eligible students will collect appreciation certificates from their respective Consignee Principals, which must be presented to the designated scooter dealer.
  • Funding for Registration and Insurance : The government will provide funds for scooter registration and insurance to the Consignee Principals. After verifying the beneficiary details, these funds will be transferred to the concerned dealer.
  • Cost-Free Process : Students are not required to pay any amount for scooter registration or insurance.
  • Scooter Collection : Students will collect their scooters directly from the designated dealer.
  • In Case of Student’s Death : If a student passes away, their legal guardian may choose whether or not to collect the scooter.
  • Mutual Exclusivity with Other Schemes : Beneficiaries of the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award under the Pragyan Bharati scheme will not be eligible for the Nijut Moina Scheme. However, if a girl student opts out of receiving the scooter, she may apply for the Nijut Moina Scheme instead.
